Salad with a bit of cheese, topped with Newman's light italian dressing. Newman's is the Best!
followed a bit later by two dinner rolls, potato flour variety, steaming hot and lightly buttered.

I brought home a small marrow donated from a friend's vegetable garden. I also brought home from the supermarket a package of free-range pork sausages with apple. Shall I insert one inside the other?

[edit]

Well, I inserted a couple of one into the other, added some chopped onions and a sprinkling of black pepper, wrapped it in silver foil and stuck it in the oven. We'll see what comes out!

What is a marrow? (Ignorant American, again.)

What's a marrow.

Errrmmm....

Better known as a vegetable marrow, it's bigger than a courgette and fatter than a cucumber, and needs cooking before you eat it. One common way to cook a vegetable marrow is to cut it lengthways, spoon out the seeds from the centre, fill the cavity with minced meat, onions etc (or I often use a lentil-based mixture), put the other half back on top and bake in the oven for an hour or so. It wasn't very successful today. I think the marrow was a bit young and the sausagemeat wasn't very tasty.

Oh, that sounds tasty. It looks like a zucchini squash ... ah, they are related.

From Wikipedia: Zucchini, like all summer squash, has its ancestry in the Americas[citation needed]. While most summer squash ― including the closely related cocozelle and marrow ― were introduced to Europe during the time of European colonization of the Americas, zucchini is Italian in origin. It was the result of spontaneously occurring mutations (also called "sports").

Well this one will have Christine spinning in circles :-)

A layered "Man style" entree that Emeril had on one of his shows awhile back.

Layer one is crisp fried hash brown potatoes.

Layer two is browned crumbled ground beef with sauteed onions.

Layer three is Cheddar cheese melted over the top.

At this point you can have an optional additional layer of hashed browns making it somewhat look like it's a stacked sandwich.

Layer four is two over easy eggs fried in butter.

Oh my God I can still feel the arteries hardening. But it's tasty!!!

I made hamburgers:

1 lb lean ground beef
1 lb. ground lamb
1/2 cup finely diced red onion
1/4 cup ketchup
1/4 cup dijon mustard
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1/8 tsp. mace
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. white pepper

roasted beet/feta salad;

cut off greens/reserve
roast four beets whole in oven at 375F about an hour (baking pan w/ 1 cup water covered)
slice beets thin after peeling while still warm
spread our beet greens and other baby greens
mix olive oil and lemon juice 2:1, pour over salad
sprinkle feta over top
eat  ;-)

McDonald's Double Cheeseburger.  First one in well over 3 months because I am changing my eating habits.  Man, I love those things.

Hmmmm.

I've just been across to the works canteen, which in itself is not a good thing to do.

I like eggs. I like onions.

But an egg and onion sandwich is definitely odd!

If the onions are sauteed first and then cooked together w/eggs and seasoning it should be tasty?

Ah, well, it isn't like that. It comprises hard-boiled eggs in mayonnaise, plus some slices of raw onion.

So it's a deconstructed egg salad sandwich (kind of, sort of).

Not too unusual on this side of the globe I'd guess.
