Unless I hear any objections, or a more centrally-located hang, I suggest the following:

PUBLICK HOUSE
Thursday, 7:00 pm

Unless I hear different from you all, I'll be there Thursday nite!

Thursday's rehearsal night for me too.  Dang.

Tom, tell Mike Tomaro that his friends from New Hampshire say hello.  He was up here for our Jazz All State festival 2 years ago directing the Honors Jazz Band.

OK - let's abort the PUBLICK HOUSE plan (I still might go....)

If in doubt, call me if you are going, otherwise maybe we can meet closer into town....

This is likely the last time I will check the forum today - call/voicemail me!

If it's just Derek and I, maybe we'll just go get a scoop of ice cream, a Fresca, we'll laugh, we'll cry, we'll solve some world problems....

Tom - sorry about the confusion.  I always think Mike teaches at DePaul when he actually teaches at Duquesne.  So, don't feel like you have to go out of your way to say hello  :D

Good food and drink out at the Public House - I met Derek and two of his NEC buddies, had some good food, only I had the beer (sorry, Derek - you get an A for effort, tho!), and had lots of laughs! Good time!

Getting there early was a good call - 7pm beat the crowds (they were lined out the door by time we split).

Great rec, John - wish more of us could have gotten together... I'll let Derek organize the next get-together!

Met Gabe later that evening downtown at the Intermission Cafe (Bar?). Enjoyed some more laughs, and maybe one too many martinis. Lesson learned. Hendricks Gin is to blame. Must buy some Hendricks...

Boston is a great town.

But what is it - a small big city, or a big small city?

Metro Boston is a big city.  Boston itself is under 1,000,000 people.  I guess Boston proper is a big little city, while Metro Boston is a Big Big city.

We consider all the towns within the 128 ring road to be Metro Boston, and from 128 to 495 is "suburban Boston".

Since Jim Robins and I live in New Hampshire, we are considered living in "the sticks".

I'm glad that you guys liked the place.

I went over there last night before I ranted here, and oh boy did I get tanked.  I had a Liefman's Frambozen, some other type of Liefman's, a La Chouffe and a Houblon Chouffe, and several other beers.  I'm still drunk now and it's almost noon.   I haven't drank like that since I was unemployed.

Perhaps I shouldn't go back.

Yeah, John - good call.

I had only one beer - something on tap, starting with a K. Liked it, but didn't love it (I sensed it was an excellent beer, just not my bag). I don't drink beer hardly at all anymore, so my chops are way down! Likely the kind of beer I could have had several of years ago, but I'm pretty much a gin and vodka man anymore....
