Overall, my tone is good.
But there is still a little bit of air in my sound,
and I can't figure out how to get rid of it.
There are no leaks in my horn.

I have been doubling tenor and bass trombone,
going from a Bach 2G to a Marsenkiewicz 8H.
And the extreme change in mouthpeice could be the problem.

Any pointers on how to get rid of the impurities in my tone?

There have been several threads on this is the past. Do a search and you should find quite a few.

*Edit* here's one to start with.

WestHigh, as an 8th grader, I think you are overreaching trying to play bass trombone.  If you want to play a wide variety of parts, play them all on an F-attachment tenor and use one mouthpiece (the Marc. 8H is a good choice).

Your airy tone can partly be a problem in your embouchure not being focussed because you are switching off so much.

I still have some issues with airiness in my tone, but it use to be much worse.  I second using an F attachment trombone with an appropriate mouthpiece, but also fine a good private teacher.  Sometimes school band directors have no idea what they're talking about (trust me:been there, done that).  Also, how many yeas have you been playing?  If it is less than 3 or 4 years, you probably just stick to a medium bore until you better develop your tone, embouchure, and technique.  I didn't start on an F attachment until 10th grade (started in 4th.)  and I'm a freshman in college and just started on bass.  Long and short, wait until you are mature enough (in your playing) to play much bigger instruments, you have plenty of time.
