Has anyone had success with this portable recorder? - it looks to be an upgrade from the Zoom and the M-Audio models at the same price.
I still don't know why Apple doesn't make a high quality  live recording accessory for the Ipod.

It looks decent spec wise.  Ships in March?  This past one, or the next one?  I can't seem to find any discussions about it on other forums.  It appears to have that auto gain adjustment which isn't liked much on the microtrack(because you can't turn it off).  24 bit is good.  Looks a bit like the Edirol R-09.

# Analog Auto Gain Control

I opted for the Korg MR-1000 myself.  Just too many not quite happy with sub $500 device stories.  Even the mighty H4 is rumored to run a bit fast and is not very suitable for syncing up with video.  I think I did see a 3rd party recording add-on for the Ipod.  I don't remember where, and it's probably not "high quality".

For me the specs of handheld devices just didn't meet my desires.  Short battery life.  SD cards are great and all, but not when you can only use 1GB, maybe 2GB or smaller cards.  My Korg came with a 40GB harddisk builtin.  Plenty of space to record to and store a sizeable MP3 collection.  Battery life still kind of sucks despite the 8x AA's it runs on.  But I know it can go over 2 hours with phantom power on.  On rechargeable Ni-MH batteries anyway.  No ideal yet where the power terminus actually lays.  But I did record about one hour with phantom power mics.  Then used it over two hours as an mp3 player afterwards.  But it took over an hour to recharge the rechargeables (2 hour rechargeables).  I love my Korg MR-1000, the converters alone were worth the price.  At least at the used price I got it at.
