You should find the video of him putting down DJ at one of the Eastern Trombone Workshops ;-)

The entire Marsalis clan are great musicians -- Daddy Ellis and all his boys.

I was standing next to DJ when this happened. It was a hoot!
3  Creation and Performance / Trombonists / Re: Bill Pearce - favorite albums on: Feb 23, 2017, 06:05PM
I loved the way he mixed his faith with his musicianship. I'm sure that he could have made more money playing secular music but he chose his faith over money.

Have you ever heard James Weldon Johnson's "God's Trombones" ?  I have it on 78RPM records somewhere.  A nice endorsement for the instrument, but nothing to get overly thrilled about !  I saw it on EBay recently.  Check it out !

God's Trombones by James Weldon Johnson is a great literary piece. He and brother also wrote the music and lyrics for Lift Evry Voice and Sing!

A local antique store wants to sell a silver plated Conn Director for roughly $80.00. Is this a fair price?
9  Horns, Gear, and Equipment / Accessories / Jo-Ral practice mute on: May 07, 2015, 03:12PM
This mute has a lot of back pressure. Do I need to just use it more or should I drill another hole in it?

Can't go wrong with a Conn 4H. They usually go for between $300-$500.

I'm a Brian Culbertson fan!! Buy his albums. Although piano seems to be his main instrument, he can play funk trombone with the best of them living!

18  Practice Break / Found on the 'Net / Re: Trombone with both valve and slide attachments? on: Aug 23, 2012, 08:03PM
My dad left me a Conn Constellation with the slide and valve section. I hate to gloat but he also bequeathed to me two Mt. Vernon Bach mouthpieces to play them with!!
