I was perusing ebay yesterday and it turns out thre's actually a number of C bass trumpets with four valves there. I think they were Schiller?  Not sure if that would suit your neeeds but evidently someone does make a  new one.

Are you talking about this one?

Several more have been sold, but I have made a few new ones, both brown and black. Thanks again to those who have bought a holder or several holders. I really appreciate the support  :)

I'd highly recommend budgeting something like the Neotech brace that I mentioned earlier (not much, $30ish) because it will make the horn easier to hold.

+1

Double valve basses can be quite heavy depending on which brand you get. I was experiencing quite a bit of pain when I first got my Benge 290 so I bought a Sheridan get-a-grip to help support the weight of the horn. The Sheridan get-a-grip is superior to the neotech on my particular horn imo.

Looking for an extra trombone stand that I can leave somewhere I play allot at. Would prefer to stay away from Hamiltons as I have larger horns. If you have any K&M or like stands Iíll definetly consider them! PM me if you have one you can sell.

Thanks!

Hello fellow trombonists,
Every once in awhile, Iíve seen someone playing a bass trumpet in an orchestra or band. I got to thinking, what is so special about the bass trumpet? why would you use it over a certain other instrument, and as a trombonist, would being able to play a bass trumpet be a useful skill to have?

Any insight would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Wondering if this would fit a Shires horn.. I'm really interested in one!

I donít know for certain. It should work though. Not sure what type of shires horn you have, but it should work on Thayers and standard rotors.

Thanks

Do you know if your holder will fit a small bore instrument?

I have not been able to try it on one, but it should be able to work because the Velcro makes it adjustable to different widths of pipe.

For starters, I would try a Bach 5G. I moved to a 5G from a 6 1/2al and it worked pretty well. I eventually moved to a Schilke 51 though, because it was a bit deeper and I liked the rim better.

Still have several holders available   Hi

Feel free to ask any questions.

Hello fellow trombonists,
After numerous instances of forgetting to bring a pencil with me to a rehearsal, I started experimenting with making a leather pencil holder which would attach to my horn, so that I would always have a pencil with me when playing. After a few experimental designs, I finally settled on one. It's basically a piece of leather (3Ē- 3Ē) with a small leather stripped attached to it which the pencil slides into. The 3Ē-3Ē piece is attached to the F attachment pipe of the horn by two pieces of velcro. The velcro makes it adjustable to different widths of F attachment pipe, which makes this holder usable with many different types of horns. I have only been able to try the holders on three horns so far due to my limited means. The holders work on my Yamaha Xeno tenor, Benge 290, and my friend's Blessing B-88 tenor. You should be able to keep the holder on one your horn is in its case, even though I have to put the holders in a certain places on to get it to work with my Benge 290 and Xeno in order for them to fit in their cases. My friend's B-88 has a Pro-tec soft case so it works fine.

I've found these holders to be invaluable; so I'm considering offering them for sale to you guys. As stated above, these holders are made to be a universal fit, so if you have a tenor with F attachment or a double valve bass, the holders should fit. I've made several of the holders shown in the pics, but if you don't think they'll fit your horn, I can probably make a holder to custom fit. Hopefully I will be working on a design for a holder for a straight tenor/alto sometime in the future. As you can see in the pics, there are two color options; black and light brown. The pencils shown in the pics are not included.

I'm asking $15 for each holder including shipping in the CONUS. Shipping to Canada will be $5 extra. If you are in a different country, there will be an extra shipping fee depending on location. If you would like more than one holder, let me know and we can work out a discounted price. Again, if you would like a holder with different dimensions if you think my standard one won't fit, let me know. PayPal only please. PM me with inquiries/questions/comments. Thanks!

My personel bass is a Benge 290. Great horn! As stated above, Benge trombone tend to be underrated, but the 290 I have is very nice imo. I canít compare it to the 613 because I havenít played one of those. Iíd try both, and buy the one that suits you best.

Good luck!

Jupiter and Mirafone.

Avoid the Getzen with the very narrow slide.

Don't know which of the Chinese brands is good.

+1 for the Jupiter. I used to have one and it was pretty good as far as those horns go. There is one for sale on eBay now currently but the seller seems to want quite a bit of money for it. Not sure what the reserve price is.
