This upcoming weekend is one of Australia's biggest fireworks displays with the annual RiverFire festival. And this time we are getting the Roulettes back, which will now doubt be very spectacular:

For me it will not be as special as were the F111s with their "dump & burn" display.....

..... But that is because of my special attachment to that now obsolete and retired old F111 aircraft, which goes back to the early 1970s when they first arrived at Amberley airbase and I was involved with a company that provided some facilities for the aircraft and training of crews.

RAAF Base Amberley was well-known to Americans during the WWII and most of the RAAF aircraft based there have been and are of American origin:

At RiverFire, we will also get to see the RAAF recently arrived EA-18G Growler Electronic Attack aircraft, a C-17A Globemaster and up to four MRH90 Army Aviation helicopters.

Well, RiverFire was spectacular as per normal for their twentieth birthday. Good! The theme for the music was flashbacks to previous RiverFires.

It was great but I still miss the F111s and their afterburn.

The popularity of RiverFire continues with over 500,000 people attending. Not to mention the rest of Queensland watching it on TV.
