Hello,

I am the trombone professor at the Lamont School of Music at the University of Denver and we have the Newman Fellowship this year that offers a student free tuition and $25,000 each year ($50,000 total) of your Masters or Artist Diploma. This is not a TA position, of which we have plenty as well. There are no strings attached. Just classes, ensembles and lessons, that's it.

Our faculty is

Warren Deck (Former New York Phil Tuba) who teaches two classes for grad students.
Steve Weist (Big Band, Jazz Arr., Trombone)
Kathy Brantigan (Tuba),
Alan Hood (Trumpet),
A new, full-time horn professor who has not been named yet and
Scott Bean (Trombone)

The deadline is coming up fast. By December 15th, you will need to submit the equivalent of a half recital. Information is copied bellow. Please contact me if you have further questions.

Robert and Judi Newman Fellowship
Each year, the Lamont School of Music selects one outstanding graduate student to be named the Robert and Judi Newman Fellow. This award includes a full-tuition scholarship and a stipend in the amount of $25,000 per year for two successive years. The recipient is expected to contribute in some way as service to the University as determined by the Director of the Lamont School of Music.

Special requirements for Robert and Judi Newman Fellowship eligibility:

Applicants must submit a video of sufficient material to perform a half solo recital containing works which show a diversity of periods and styles. This video should be uploaded to the DU Graduate Application by January 15. Applicants for the composition degree must upload recordings of their works equivalent to a half-concert.
