I am learning to play the trombone.  I just got my trombone last week.  Right now I only know a few notes - Bb, F (1st position),  E (2nd pos),
Eb (3rd pos), D (4th pos) and C (6th pos).  I was wondering if anyone might know some real easy songs that I might could try playing on my trombone.  I think I'm going to like this instrument quite well.  Some Christmas songs (really easy) would be good right now if there are any that I could play at this early stage.

Sorry, I don't have a trombone or keyboard handy so some notes maybe off, and I can't put in the rhythmns but the first part of jingle bells goes something like this:

In the key of Bb(key signature of Bb and Eb*)

( then start at the beginning again if you want to reapeat that)

*   b (Eb) is third position just below E

Good suggestion, and not bad transcription, Frank; one note correction, and a small change to allow for the difference between bars 7-8 and bars 15-16:

(All Bs and Es are flat)

(What's this "I don't have a piano or a trombone handy" business?  Hmph!  You can do it in your head, with one ear tied behind your back!)

Hope this is helpful, Carol.  Have fun!

Carol

You mentioned that you play the piano.

You could probably read some simple music from (for example) a hymnal.  Use the treble clef as follows:

     =
     =
etc.

Thus you can play any piece that goes from     to     .

Of course, you can play stuff in an elementary trombone tutor as well.

Keep having fun.

I would like to thank all of you for your suggestions about easy songs to try playing on my trombone.  I will try Jingle Bells.  That looks like a good song to play.  Also I may try something easy out of a hymnal.  Thanks again for the suggestions.
