Nope.  We'll move this one to Trombone Chat.

I yield back to Harrison.  Billy C. will have to fend for himself.

Is there any software limit to the number of posts a thread can contain?  Or the forum itself?

That is a question for Dr. Richard Byrd, who owns the equipment and maintains the software the forum resides on.

So it will never be answered.

I found out that the post count is longer than 16 bit integer since I've exceeded that and have not gone negative.  I don't want to know what the maximum number of posts is ;-)

Oh, and I yield to BillO.

Quote
The number 2,147,483,647 (or hexadecimal 7FFF,FFFF16) is the maximum positive value for a 32-bit signed binary integer in computing. It is therefore the maximum value for variables declared as integers (e.g., as int) in many programming languages, and the maximum possible score, money, etc. for many video games.

Not to worry however... there are also 64-bit integers

There is also an absolute (no negative) 16 bit that goes to 65535.  I really doubt I'm going to test that one either, even though I'm closer to that than 32767.

I yield back to Robcat.

When I was a boy we only had to count up to 255.
