I ponied up $100 to the cause - but I never got any response from the big guy.
Anyone else donate any money and get neither a "thank you" email or recognition on the "TTF Supporters" page?

Me too. I've sent two emails with no response. Hey, it says if your name isn't on the list, let them know, and I did.

There's this;
"Upcoming enhancements to TTF
No more fundraising! (at least for about a year)
Thanks to all who contributed
to the care and feeding of our community. And now, it's time to renovate. In the next few weeks, the entire underlying software of the forum, as well as available features and other such bells and whistles available to TTF members will be revamped, inspected, selected, and injected. (No Group W bench required) Watch this space for more details."
My donation went to "Webspry". I assume that's Tromboneforum.org.

I saw that.
But it does not answer my question....

WebSpry Consulting
is the net shingle under which Richard Byrd does business. The Trombone Forum (tromboneforum.org) is one of several sites, including
The Open Horn
, that share a server (currently 216.139.89.3) operated by Mr. Byrd.

A bit more transparency would be nice. I too donated a modest amount, but I wanted this donation to go towards TTF. Can someone on the staff or RLB perhaps let us know what the cost of maintaining the TTF is and how much has been raised in donations? Are all these donations going strictly to the TTF or are we inadvertently also supporting other sites that happen to be hosted on the same server?

I'm afraid none of us Staff can tell you what you want to know. RLB keeps all that stuff really close to his vest.
I can say that he has other sites and he charges them for his services.
There is advertising revenue from the ads on the Home page. Again, we don't know much about it.
It
is
Richard's site and we are all here at his pleasure. He can kick any of us out in a heartbeat (but he seems to keep mostly to himself).

IN response to the above: I didn't receive any "Thank-you," but my name is on the contributors list.

there are some concerns about what will happen to ttf in case of a debilitating condition or worse in rlb
and it seems that arab leader like control is currently out of fashion
so in light of rlb's ''health'' problems the health of ttf is closely tied
---------------
as far as operating costs of a typical forum --these are a known factor --and members may have some figures and comments

As long as we have this site and have adequate warning that it could disappear, I believe I'll just go with the flow.

I know that money has been transferred out of my PayPal account, but have not received a "thank you" email and my name hasn't been yet added to the supporters page. That's easy to chalk up to the realities of life keeping Richard Byrd busy and not as much of a concern for me personally.

If this is the case, I'd like to learn more about it. As a former member of the staff, this was never brought up when RLB hosted the forum. What does concern me is that I contributed money to help support The Trombone Forum, but that the server he has bought to host TTF on seems to also be hosting commercial sites he has a financial interest in. There must also be some ad revenue generated from TTF and I think it's a fair question to ask how much has been raised in donation, how much ad revenue is generated, and whether the money I donated is being used to help support his web hosting business.
If RLB is using our donations in part to host web sites that have paid for that service, does that mean we get a cut?

I do not care about RLB's other projects, none of my business. I'm not looking for the audit dome of you seem to be suggesting.
I just want confirmation he got my donation to the TTF.
It's just that simple.

Considering that Thank-You notes are evidently of great concern here, how many people have taken the time to write a personal letter of thanks to Dr. Byrd?
I have not so I don't see where I have any room to go Ann Landers on him.
