What about mouthpiece buzzing?

I'm not into it for a variety of reasons.

I'm kind of relieved to hear you say that. I gave up buzzing because it always caused more damage than anything. I'm still not sure what I was doing wrong, but my face doesn't miss the torture and my playing improved.

If I am not mistaken, Randy Hawes is also an orchestral upstream player (and a my-T fine one at that!)

Randy Hawes does not look like an upstream embouchure to me, in the pictures and videos I can find on the internet.  I don't think I have ever seen him live, and I can't find any close pictures.

I believe Ray Premru played upstream. He certainly had a pronounced underbite, and he tended to bend his head down a little to keep the upward horn angle from being distracting. His mouthpiece placement was on the low side as well.
