I took a chance and purchased the JinBao bass a few months ago and it FINALLY came in today! In terms of fit and finish, it doesn't have any noticeable defects and everything seems in place. Mechanically the slide is pretty good out of the box and all tuning slides move easily. The Gb is a little on the slower side, but I haven't oiled yet.

In terms of playability it is a solid horn, nothing alarming to report. It only came with one leadpipe(the typical #2 I believe).

Of course the best part about going with the JinBao was the price, which was a little over $1200 NEW! It was perfectly within budget, and a seems like a great bang for the buck. Of course time will only tell in regards to longevity.

Here are a few quick pictures that I took:

Hi,

the 2nd trigger seemed difficult to reach, isnt it?
i ve played jinbao bass (standard rotor) it has the same problem.

will you show picture of the case also? just curious, i want to if its the same
case as my jinbao double rotor bass.

will you also post audio clips? we are all interested to listen how it play!

thx.

I actually have the other JinBao bass as well, so I can take pictures to compare the two Gb levers. Thankfully, the lever on this one is actually pretty comfortable/natural to reach...unlike the other which was seemingly impossible to use and eventually required to be bent. The case is pretty much the typical black JinBao condura case, only it seems to be a tad bit wider(I'll take pictures this evening). If you need any other pics, just let me know.

I'll try and make a recording sometime soon for you guys.

Fkin,

Here are the comparison pictures that you wanted between the axial and the rotor basses:

Here are the levers we discussed earlier. As you can see, even after bending the lever, it still isn't as far over as the out of the box axial lever.

In a slide comparison, the axial slide has a brass double radius compared to the nickel single radius rotor slide.

The axial case is on the right. As you can see it is just a tad bit larger.

So, where did you order this bass from?  I could order directly from Jin Bao, but there is a minimum order size of 20 pieces  :-P .  Which distributer did you go through?

I ordered mine through Tom McGrady at MACK BRASS. I know it isn't a model that he normally keeps in stock, but if you wanted one I'm sure he could accommodate you!
