I'm looking to order a new leadpipe for my 88h.  As of right now it has a king 4B leadpipe in it, which gives the horn a really open blow, but the sound is not very focused.  I really have know idea what leadpipes would go well with an 88h??

Any suggestions would be great?

The Shires 2.5 pipe is often a good match for an 88H. More focused with firmer slots than the old standard 88H pipe, but still quite open and very much in character.

Kanstul has some leadpipes based off Minnick designs for the 88H, and I really like the ML in particular on my 1588-CR, which is a Conn 88H-inspired design. They also have a leadpipe for an 8H special, which has a much narrower venturi.  I have to pick up one of those eventually.

How does Kanstul'ss Minick Legit compare to the current Conn's S leadpipe?  I have an older 70's Conn 88h that I'm thinking about switching out also because I want it to play like my younger (90's)Conn 8H.

I've just been down this road trying to find a leadpipe for my 88H. I tried many leadpipes, 15 to be exact,
and I'm pleased to say that thanks to the Brass Lab I found exactly what i was looking for.
I finally decided on a T85-6 regular weight which for me was the closest superior leadpipe to the Conn 88H standard leadpipe that i could find.
The T85-6 standard is only slightly more open than a standard, but might 88H is now a dream to play.
