Nickolaus Harnoncourt, a pioneer of the authentic or period instrument music movement, has died.

There's a guy who found a way to be different but not just for the sake of being different.

I suppose the pettiness/jealousy of Herbert von Karajan's noted in the article above is harder to get away with today now that classical music isn't quite the business it used to be.
