To me, this is the most disturbing thing that Trump has done to date. (and that is saying a lot based on the many baffling executive orders he has made over the past several days)

He removed the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and the Director of National Intelligence and from the national security counsel and appointed Bannon to the committee.

AYKM? He has zero government, intelligence, or high-level military experience. And he leads a propaganda outlet (Breitbart News) that peddles nationalist and white nationalist viewpoints.

Everyone should have a problem with this. If they don't, I have no words.

Definitely the most dangerous and ill thought out move so far by an administration that does little else. As I said in another thread, neither Frederick Forsythe or John LeCarre could have devised a spy plot line as convoluted or byzantine as the reality unfolding in our politics today.

Who knows if it is a GREAT move, or not. Time will tell.

Yesterday on the Sunday shows, Preibus said that the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and the Director of National Intelligence were given a standing invitation to attend any of the meetings that they wish, so, if that's true, it's not exactly true that they were 'removed'.

Now, I don't know if what Preibus said is true or not either, that's why I say, lets see what happens.

Trump's opposition doesn't like any of these guys, so I don't understand why the folderol. I guess that his opposition has to put up a fight about everything Trump does regardless.

Why am I called to comment anyway?

Because if anyone can explain why replacing the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and Director of National Intelligence with an alt-right blogger is a good idea you can.

To Trump, Bannon is the most informed person he knows, because Bannon presents the narratives that Trump most wants to believe.

I wonder if anyone has ever convinced Donald that he was wrong on anything? It probably can't be done.

I'd really like to see the totality of Bannon's service record. I hope there are people doing deep dives into the totality of his background. He is a truly evil man.

What was said and what the original order says are not the same. Obfuscation.

Bannon is a racist and he has NO experience in national security. That doesn't bother you?  :(

Repubs and Demos alike are sounding the alarm over this ridiculous and unprecedented move.

There is a tradition that political operatives are not placed on this council. There was a fair amount of controversy when David Axelrod was allowed just to attend the meetings, but even he was never named as a member.

This sort of give-em-a-chance attitude was entirely absent among Republicans during Obama's two terms.

That seems like a very juvenile and irresponsible attitude towards a very important position at the highest level of government.

Yeah--"What the hell, let's give 'em a shot at it!"

It's astounding that the people who relentlessly bagged on the last president, often reflexively and for little or no reason, have gained a newfound respect for the office that they want to impose on everyone else.

If I were cynical, I'd almost think it was self-serving.

For fun, look up his involvement in the Biosphere 2 experiment in the '90s.

Okay, hold it.  Now let me get this straight.  You think Trump's White House chief of staff may be a liar, and you seem okay with this.  Wasn't dishonesty your main objection to Clinton?
