This is specifically about how ubiquitous technologies manipulate the desires and values of human brain owners (i.e. no, you're not immune or even shielded because of your ideologies if you're exposed, and thinking you are plays directly into the hands of your manipulators), but this has always been an issue. It's just that our use of technologies these days amps up the stakes by an order of magnitude ... or so.
